A Mezcal Paloma is made with two flavors grapefruit and mezcal that are a match made in heaven or at least a match made in Mexico and the United States. I say this because I often combine the two for a tart, sweet and smoky drink that keeps you coming back for another sip...and then another.

Mezcal and Grapefruit Paloma Ingredients
A mezcal Paloma is a great way to enjoy the flavors of an agave spirit while preparing yourself for your night out (or link me, a night in!). It's made with the light-bodied and citrusy mezcal, making it a fun departure from the typical tequila-based Paloma.
Mezcal
If you're not familiar with mezcal, we can understand. Mezcal is made by distilling agave plants native to Mexico. The smoky spirit is distilled from the agave plant is the same spirit used to make tequila. Mezcal has exploded in popularity in the US over the past few years.
Lime Juice
To get the lime juice in there, we recommend juicing one lime per serving (so if you're making two drinks, you'll need to juice two limes).
Grapefruit soda
Grapefruit soda (such as Fresca or Jarritos) to taste
Honey Simple Syrup
See below for the recipe. If you don't have honey, make regular simple syrup.

However, this recipe swaps out the tequila for mezcal. Mezcal is a smoky tequila-like spirit that transforms this simple drink into extraordinary. This recipe calls for honey simple syrup to replace the traditional sugar simple syrup to add another layer of flavor.
